Moreland Auctions is a 4th generation business (established 1937), which made its name running auctions for many years all throughout Victoria.  Our last ever auction was on the 3rd of March 2013 at the Old Kilmore Gaol.

Our auction’s featured antiques, collectables, general good quality household furniture and appliances, and deceased estates.

Where it all began…

Lisle and Josephine O’Brien came from the Western District of Victoria to Melbourne in 1936 and settled in Brunswick where they established Moreland Auction Rooms on Sydney Road, running auctions through the war years.

In 1945, at the war’s end, Lisle and Josephine’s son Hartley Lisle (Bob) came into the business. He went on to marry Betty and had two sons, Robert and Peter.

Robert (Bob) came into the business in 1961 at the age of 14. Later on in 1970 Peter also joined the business. Over the years many family members have been part of the running of the Auction Rooms.

Early in the new millennium the business relocated from Brunswick to the historic Kilmore Gaol.

After the last ever auction, the business moved from the Kilmore Gaol, and was remodelled to buy and sell in Victoria, Australia, from a small Warehouse in Wallan, at the Historic Bendigo Pottery, at DeBretts Antiues in Moonee Ponds and online from our website.

Moreland Auctions remains a family business and is currently run by Peter and his wife Nancy.
